AVON PARK — Satisfying that drought-thirsty lawn on the wrong days of the week or any time Saturday or Sunday could lead to an expensive civil citation of $100 or more, at least in Avon Park. Avon Park Police officer Jose Molina sprinkled 19 properties Sunday and Monday with citations, including a home on West Pleasant Street that received a $200 fine as a repeat offender. Today the city of Athens, Ga. is facing a water shortage unlike any we have seen here in the Tampa area. It is projected Athens will be completely without water by mid-December. Atlanta is also running low and projected to run out of water by next year some time. These examples show why it is so important to conserve water whenever possible. ...more

I recently moved here and live in south Hillsborough County. When I bought my home, a sprinkler system was included that had a rain sensor. As we all know, we are under a water shortage and must conserve water; the residents are only allowed to water their lawns once a week on a particular day and time, depending on their address. ...more
