SEBRING –– Teamwork, fundamentals and playing for the betterment of the team is what basketball is all about, at least that's what Avon Park head coach Luther Clemons is trying to instill in his boys basketball team. And the message might have finally sunk in. The Red Devils ended 2007 on a positive note, defeating the Kissimmee Gateway Panthers 41-34 in the final day of the Jim Taveniere Holiday Tournament on Saturday, and in the process, may have found the blue print for success. ...more

All of our family loved to go up to Orlando to shop and tour around, but we always found our favorite place to eat, Panera Bread. So, we were so thrilled that now Sebring has one. Bass won't be the only Red Devil volleyball player looking to take a few extra steps tonight: Avon Park opens its postseason at 6 p.m. against Palmetto at Sebring High School in a match-up of Class 4A-District 10's fourth and fifth seeds. The winner of the match, however, won't be breathing any sighs of relief: They'll face defending district champion DeSoto on Wednesday at 7:30. ...more
