PLANT CITY - The local American Legion post plans to show its appreciation to area veterans at an Oct. 10 open house.
Veterans, active-duty military and their families will be treated to free hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the post, 2207 W. Baker St., next to Tomlin Middle School. The legion also will showcase the services it offers to veterans, said Lee Craighead, community service officer for Norman McLeod American Legion Post No. 26.
Members of the post talked for some time about holding Veterans' Appreciation Day before settling on a time and date, said Craighead, a retired Air Force master sergeant.
