Girl Scouts scouting for new members in Plant City

PLANT CITY - Girls ages 5 to 17 can sign up for Girl Scouts from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The annual membership rally will be at the Girl Scout House at Mike Sansone Community Park, 1702 N. Park Road, south of Interstate 4. Light refreshments will be served, and girls may take part in craft-making.

At the event, girls can meet troop leaders to learn when and where troops meet, said Yamel Belen, Girl Scout public relations volunteer with Troop No. 804.

Girl Scouts offers programs that encourage girls to develop their leadership potential and other skills, Belen said.

Registration fee is $12.

The organization also is seeking volunteers, both men and women, to work with girls, reach out to the community, share skills and talents, and more.
