PLANT CITY - It probably would be an understatement to say that 1954 Turkey Creek High School graduate Lamar Rogers likes the Plant City Photo Archives.
Last year the Fayetteville, Ga., resident spent about two hours looking at old photographs and reminiscing with the staff at the archives at 119 N. Collins St. Recently, Rogers and his wife, Violet Sparkman Rogers, came to Plant City for a return visit.
Candy Owens, who works at the archives, said Rogers told stories of his childhood growing up in the Cork area, including picking strawberries on his father's farm and buying boiled peanuts from a longtime downtown street vendor called "Blind Charlie."
Owens said the archives gets a lot of visitors but Rogers might have traveled the farthest specifically to visit the collection of historic photos. Fayetteville is just outside Atlanta, about 450 miles from Plant City.
The Rogers were accompanied on their return visit by Don and Sarah Linton, who were childhood friends.
