Fallen heroes had ties to area

Military members with Plant City area ties who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq since hostilities commenced include, in alphabetical order:

•Army Sgt. Kevin D. Akins, 29, Plant City, a Plant City High School graduate, killed in action March 12, 2006, in Asadabad, Afghanistan

•Army Sgt. Cory L. Clark, 25, Plant City, a Durant High School graduate, killed in action Aug. 28, 2007, in Jaji, Afghanistan

•Army Pfc. Marc A. Delgado, 21, Lithia, Durant High graduate, killed in action Nov. 24, 2005, in Baghdad,

•Army Spc. Eric N. Lembke, 25, Plant City, Simmons Career Center graduate, died of combat wounds in Afghanistan on Oct. 23

•Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Ronald A. Ginther, 37, Auburndale, a Plant City High graduate, killed in action May 2, 2004, in Anbar province, Iraq

•Army Pvt. Jody W. Missildine, 19, Plant City, Plant City High graduate, killed in action April 8, 2006, in Tal Afar, Iraq

•Marine Lance Cpl. James R. Phillips, 21, Plant City, Durant High graduate, killed in action Dec. 23, 2004, in Fallujah, Iraq

•Army Lt. Col. Peter E. Winston, 56, Plant City, graduate of Lakeland High, non-combat death Nov. 13, 2006, in Kuwait.
