Make a wish list

Sister's & Company's annual Wish List Party will be from 4 to 8 p.m.

Guests may stop in at the boutique, 104 E. Reynolds St., to fill out their holiday wish lists and enjoy food, friends, fun and gifts.

Friday
Christmas in the Park
The deadline is Friday for families to register for Christmas in the Park.

Registration is at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 1601 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Christmas in the Park, sponsored by the Plant City Recreation and Parks Department, will be Dec. 12 at the recreation center and will include food for everyone and games for children.

Merchants, clubs and churches will provide toys for children ages 5 to 9 in attendance. A driver's license or photo identification is required to register, and registration is limited to 200 families.

Art gallery grand opening

Light refreshments, door prizes, music and more will be part of the grand opening at The Art Lounge Gallery at 119 E. Reynolds St.

The show from 6 to 10 p.m. will feature the work of Anna Alpin, Beverly Farley, Carolyn Miller, Carlos Rojas, Debra Bryant, Eric Barber, Kim Wells and Matt Rentz. Special guest artist is Jesse Starr.

Next door to the gallery, at The Corner Store, there will be a wine tasting.

Curtain rises on venue

Plant City Entertainment will present its first production at its new home, 101 N. Thomas St. It is directly across the street from the First Presbyterian Church and behind the Reynolds Street Post Office.

The community theater will stage "Love, Sex and the I.R.S." at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Nov. 13 and 14. There also will be a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday. Clint Shepherd will direct, with Dodie White assisting.

The theater recently bought the building, a former auction house near the downtown post office, as its first permanent home.

Tickets are $10, or $8 for seniors and students.

Calling all singles

The Strawberry Singles Club's weekly dance will be from 8 to 11:30 p.m. at the Stardust Dance Center, 1405 S. Collins St., Plant City.

The cost is $6 for members, $7 for associate members and $8 for nonmembers.

Saturday

Get healthy at free fair

Free food and health screenings will be offered at South Florida Baptist Hospital's second Health Fair at FishHawk Ranch, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Health screenings will include blood pressure, cholesterol, skin cancer and osteoporosis. Health information, including data on swine flu, will be available, and there will be children's activities such as a bike rodeo, moonwalk and magic show. The hospital also will offer a cookout lunch, healthy cooking demonstrations and live music. Participants may register to win a Wii videogame console.

The health fair at Park Square, 16144 Churchview Drive, Lithia, is free.

Dinner to help missionary, family

A fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. will help a missionary who is headed next year to Slovenia, a country in Central Europe that shares a border with Italy.

The dinner will be served at First Assembly of God of Plant City, 602 Charlie Griffin Road. Proceeds will help missionary Bruce Page, who is raising money so his wife and three daughters can accompany him when he departs for Slovenia for four years.

A $6.50 donation for adults and $4.50 for children 12 and younger is requested for the meals. Available for eat-in or carry out, they will include fish, grits, hushpuppies, baked beans, dessert and tea.

Learn a few moves at Red Rose Inn

Veteran dance instructor Susan Staton will teach dances such as the tango, rumba and others at 7 p.m. at the Red Rose Inn and Suites, 2011 N. Wheeler St.
