PLANT CITY The grand opening of The Daily Grind & News has been pushed back two weeks to March 23 due to delays in furniture shipments.'
But the owners, Mike and Dede Floyd, will make it worth the wait: The café will offer patrons free fresh-brewed coffee for the first week.
The Floyds are opening the Daily Grind in the same location as Espress Yourself Coffee 101, which closed last month after two years of operation. The Floyds own the building that houses the coffee shop at 101 E. J. Arden Mays Blvd. The building is also home to their publication, FOCUS magazine.
The Floyds say the remodeled shop will have a new décor, signature drinks with a local flavor such as strawberry fruit tea, pastries, gourmet chocolates and a selection of national and local newspapers.
The Daily Grind will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. It will be closed Sundays. The café will offer free Wi-Fi and regular events.
The café is hiring, and resumes can be e-mailed to manager Carolyn Miller at Carolyn@dailygrindandnews.com.
