PLANT CITY A free seminar to assist those planning to buy a home is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Bruton Memorial Library, 302 W. McLendon St.
Topics to be covered include the $7,500 federal tax credit for first-time homebuyers, the importance of prequalifying for a mortgage and determining how much a buyer can afford to spend.
The hour-long seminar will also cover the importance of title insurance, short sales and bank-owned properties and mortgage and down-payment assistance programs.
The seminar is jointly sponsored by Marti Huff of Plant City Realty; Jillian Sajdak of SunTrust Mortgage and Beth Campoamor of Integrity First Title.
For some, this is an ideal time to buy a house, said Sajdak, based in the Plant City/Lithia office of SunTrust Mortgage. "Guidelines are tighter, but interest rates are extremely low and prices are low," she said. "But there are some definite things out there people should know" before proceeding, she added.
Refreshments will be served.
To reserve a seat, call (813) 728-5048.
