PLANT CITY - Just in time for Valentine's Day, some of the area's most eligible bachelors will be gathered in one spot.
But women should bring money if they want a date.
The American Business Women's Association's sixth annual Be My Valentine Bachelor Auction is Feb. 6 at the Red Rose Ballroom at Red Rose Inn and Suites, 2011 N. Wheeler St. So far, 10 bachelors have agreed to offer themselves to the highest bidder.
Money raised by the auction goes to scholarships for female high school seniors and the professional development of women.
Men of all ages have agreed to participate and have lined up date packages, such as romantic dinners.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and include a buffet dinner and valet parking. They can be purchased at the Plant City location of Valrico State Bank, 305 S. Wheeler St., and Central Florida Construction Co., 1805 James L. Redman Parkway, Suite 102, said Lizzette Sarria, president of the association's Plant City chapter.
During the auction, each bachelor goes on stage while the emcees read information about him and describe the dream date he is planning for the winner. The audience then has its chance to bid.
The association is still looking for bachelors for the auction. Any unmarried man interested in participating can call Sarria at (813) 764-9516.
