PLANT CITY - A recent detour brought a very pleasant surprise to Jean Ann Davenport of Plant City. Her family was on the way home from a trip to North Carolina and decided at the last minute to take a detour to Savannah, Ga., to visit Paula Deen's restaurant.
The eatery was all booked up, so Davenport went into the gift shop and to her surprise, in walked the celebrity chef's sons, Jamie and Bobby, of the cooking show "Road Tasted."
"Nobody knew who they were at first until I asked the clerk to take a picture with them. They were happy to oblige and we chatted about Plant City's strawberry festival, and yes, they have heard about our festival," she said.
When Davenport left, cameras were flashing and everyone was lining up for autographs.
"It made my trip," said Davenport, who is office manager of Dental Associates at Walden Woods, Plant City, and lives in Walden Lake with her husband and two sons.
