PLANT CITY - Jeremy Duane Fuller, a 2008 graduate of Durant High School, graduated Jan. 30 from boot camp at the Marine Corps base at Parris Island, S.C. He was a member of the 1st Battalion, Co. B PH 1009.
Members of his family attended the graduation ceremony, including parents Charlie and Leigh Ann Fuller, brother Alex, grandparents Sam and Lynda Fuller, uncle Tim and aunt Polly Fuller, and aunt Kathie and uncle Jeff Traicoff.
Friends Charlie and Lonnie Brown and Emily Worthen from Plant City also attended.
Yard Sale Will Help Fight Against Cancer
Wilson Elementary School, 702 English St., will have a yard sale Saturday to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
The sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon.
Shiloh Elementary Charter To Add Grades
Danny Pickern, principal of Shiloh Elementary Charter School, has announced the school will be adding middle school grades beginning in the fall.
"We will start a business academy to complement our basic English, science, math and art programs," he said. "This is designed to teach kids how to save and handle money."
The school is now kindergarten through the sixth grade. Applications are being accepted now for grades 6, 7, and 8. Spots are limited. The school is at 905 W. Terrace Drive.

South Florida Baptist Plans Health Check
South Florida Baptist Hospital's community health department performs a valuable service each year when it holds its annual screenings. This year, the annual Spring Health Check will be from 8 a.m. to noon March 12 to 14.
Screenings include blood profiles, bone density, skin cancer, prostate screens, vascular leg, carotid Doppler ultrasound, CT heart score and mammograms. Mammograms require a doctor's note, but the others do not.
There is a minimal fee for most of these, and bone density and skin cancer screens are free. Registration is required. Call (813) 754-4444 to register or for information.
The health screenings will be at the hospital, 301 N. Alexander St.
Hospital Names Team Member Of Year
Kevin Gaylord, who works in the pharmacy department at South Florida Baptist Hospital, was named the hospital's 2008 Team Member of the Year at its annual banquet.
Sample Wild Game At Church Cookout
DOVER - Countryside Baptist Church's Wild Game Cookout will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 28 at the church at 13422 Sydney Road, Dover.
There is no charge to sample venison, hog, venison chili, fried wild turkey, squirrel, oysters and jambalaya. In addition, there will be archery demonstrations, drawings for door prizes and more.
The event is free, but the church asks guests to make reservations so it can prepare enough for everyone.

UPS Employees Honored By Their Company
Dennis Archambault of Dover and James Noel of Plant City were recently honored by UPS for their service to the company.
Archambault completed 25 years as a package car driver in Lake Wales. He began his career as a warehouse employee.
Noel has achieved 28 years safe driving with UPS. He has been employed with the company for 33 years, starting as a loader in Tampa. Currently, his route is in Pasco County. He is a member of the company's prestigious Circle of Honor, which includes 4,200 out of 200,000 drivers nationwide.
Confederacy Group Makes Donation
At the January meeting of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Jeff Cotton, a representative from the Jubal Early Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans, gave a report on the Flags Across Florida project and the dedication of a memorial park to be held in April in Tampa.
Plant City United Daughters of the Confederacy members presented Cotton with a donation for the project. The presentation took place during the Lee/Jackson dinner. Other guests at the dinner included members of the Florida Mechanized Cavalry Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp, which plans to make Plant City its home.
This group is part of the nonprofit Sons of Confederate Veterans. The members will be working with the Plant City chapter on projects that will benefit the community.
Putnam To Speak At Lincoln Day Dinner
The chairwoman of the Hillsborough County Republican Party, Deborah Cox-Roush, announced that the 2009 Lincoln Day Dinner will be held Feb. 27, with Congressman Adam Putnam as the keynote speaker. The dinner will be at TPepin's Hospitality Centre.

Free Yoga Classes Offered In Seffner
SEFFNER - Free yoga classes are being offered at FastKicks Academy, 1428 S. Kingsway Road, by a certified yoga instructor from Thailand. This karma yoga (teaching yoga for charity) class helps build flexibility and strength as well as self-control and peace of mind.

The deadline is April 1 for nominations for the Florida Agricultural and Consumer Services' awards for environmentally innovative farming practices. The 2009 Agriculture Environmental Leadership Awards recognize cattle, dairy, fruit and vegetable, small grain, sod, nursery, tropical fish, citrus and timber producers.

Lakeland Center To Host Coin, Currency Show
LAKELAND - The 46th Semi-annual Collectorama Coin and Currency Show will be held at The Lakeland Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. . Entrance fee is $3 per family (good all weekend). The center is at 701 W. Lime St.
There will be hourly door prizes and free appraisals, and youngsters under 12 get a daily dip into the "Kid's Bucket" for a free hand full of money. Call (561) 392-8551 for information. After each show, donations are forwarded to the Florida Sheriff's Youth Villa.
