TAMPA - A 36-year-old Plant City man is under arrest for running a marijuana grow operation on his property, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Deputies said they found 24 marijuana plants weighing more than 25 pounds on the property at 1076 Cowart Road. They said the grow operation was powered by electricity stolen from Tampa Electric Co.
Investigators arrested Dalbert Trejo at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was charged with trafficking in marijuana and theft of electricity.
Trejo remained in Orient Road Jail today. No bail has been set.
His arrest came a day after deputies said they found 38 marijuana plants in an unrelated marijuana grow house in Brandon. Deputies arrested Jesse Lynn Turpen, 51, who lives in the home at 1804 Derbywood Drive.
Turpen's charges include cultivation of marijuana and possession of a house for the manufacture of marijuana. His bail was set at $48,500; he has since been released from jail.
