DOVER - Troopers have identified the 50-year-old woman killed this morning in a motorcycle crash that closed U.S. 92 for several hours.
Angela Maria Fattarusso of Plant City, a passenger on the motorcycle, was killed when the bike veered off the road about 4:15 a.m., said Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the Florida Highway Patrol.
The motorcycle went into a ditch, overturned, struck a chain-link fence and landed in a tree just west of Moores Lake Road, Gaskins said.
The driver, 47-year-old Paul David Gatta of Thonotosassa, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition, Gaskins said.
Troopers shut down U.S. 92 in both directions for almost five hours while they conducted their investigation. The road reopened just before 9 a.m.
