PLANT CITY - Mayor Rick Lott and his wife, Di, have a lot of room in their spacious home for almost any imaginable event, including the 11th annual dinner-mystery theater presented in two performances by the Friends of the Bruton Memorial Library.

"The Friends of the Library were looking for a different setting this year for their annual performance," Lott said. "Di and I are more than happy to open our home for the play. Hopefully we will have great attendance and help in this fundraising effort for our city library."

Tickets for the Oct. 3 and 4 performances are on sale for $40, which includes a social starting at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 and the performance at 7:30.

The Lotts' home, 3200 Polo Place, in Walden Lake off West Timberlane Drive, has ample space available.

"We can seat 500 people in the outdoor pavilion," Lott said.

The play, "Murder, Music & Mayhem," revolves around a female singing quartet. The women specialize in golden oldies and have been on the road for more than a year. They come home to perform at the local cafe, thinking life will be simpler there.

But each of the girls comes in contact with someone from the past who complicates their lives during their arrival at the cafe.

Several very unsavory characters appear in the play, and as the title implies, someone has to be murdered.

"We have a different murderer each night," said Hal Brewer, director of the play. "The audience will play a big part in determining who the murderer actually is."

The cast includes Rick Norman, the Rev. Tom Thoeni, Gregg Gutowski and others.

Tickets can be purchased at Sunshine State Federal Savings and Loan, 102 W. Baker St., and at Holiday Inn Express, 2102 S. Park Road.
