In The Mood For Gazing At Lush Beauty?

PLANT CITY - Drive down Holloway Creek Road and you will see how Chasity and Eugene Moody use color and texture in the landscaping to make their home stand out.

As a result, they are the winners of the August beautification award presented by the Plant City Garden Club.

Three Southern magnolia trees with azaleas planted as an understory set the stage as you enter their gardens and lawns.

The Moodys have lived there about a year and half, and yet you can see how their young landscaping has brightened the property and draws your eye to their beautiful home.

Follow the walkway from the driveway toward the front entrance and you would think everything was blooming. Yes, there are ixoras, crinums and yellow bull vine blooming but the use of colorful foliage has you believing all of it is in bloom.

On the outside of the walkway, buxus microphylla and liriope march up the sidewalk to the Japanese blueberry topiaries.

To the left of the entrance, yellow bull vine and variegated schefflera bring a striking contrast to the red ti plants behind the three queen palms. Two Japanese blueberry topiaries set in a bed of loropetalum and liriope let you know that you are approaching the entrance.

To the right of the entrance are Roebelenii, ixoras, gold mound duranta and other plants set in various heights to complement one another.

The garage area was not forgotten as boxwood dresses up and softens a stark area, and xanadu and viburnum continue along the side yards. The Moody family has followed a theme of color, various heights and textures but also uses the repetition of the plants to draw everything together. Given time this lovely garden will only improve and become more beautiful as the plants mature.
