PLANT CITY All three buses that "retired" from city service this summer have found new homes.
You'll last remember the 14-passenger minibuses were taken out of service June 27 after Plant City Transit was closed down as a cost-saving measure. The diesel-powered vehicles with odometers in the 67,000 to 73,000-mile range, were subsequently offered for sale in August through a sealed-bid auction.
All three buses were sold to local buyers, including a theme park.
Two were snapped up by the First United Methodist Church of Plant City, for bids of $15,000 and $15,732.
Dinosaur World, the unique reptilian attraction just west of Plant City off Interstate 4, bought the other for $15,600.
The $46,332 proceeds from the sales exceeded the city's $38,146 final payoff on the buses.
