Political Rally Thursday In Lakeland

LAKELAND The Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 2008 Politics in the Park rally from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Mirror Promenade downtown.

For the first time, admission is free to the event. Vendors will offer food and beverages for sale.

Politics in the Park is an old-fashioned political rally that gives the community an opportunity to meet with and hear from candidates – across all levels of government. Thousands of voters are expected at this event that is held during election years. Additionally, all individuals 18 years or older will be able to participate in a straw poll conducted by the Polk County Supervisor of Elections office, with results announced that evening at the close of the event.

Candidates for local, state and congressional offices are expected to attend and representatives of the presidential candidates are also expected.
