If you like to write poetry, and want to meet with others who share your interest, plan on being at Bruton Memorial Library at 6:30 p.m. Plans call for poetry workshops to be held the third Wednesdays monthly at the library, 302 W. McLendon St., Plant City.

Help Put Shoes On Kids' Feet

A luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will help raise money for the GFWC Plant City Junior Woman's Club's annual project to furnish shoes for needy children. The meal will be available at Outback Steakhouse, 1203 Townsgate Court, off Thonotosassa Road, Plant City.

Adult tickets are $20 and include salad, choice of steak or chicken, bread, side and beverage. Children's ticket prices were not available.

M*A*S*H Bash Returns For 3rd Year

The SS American Victory's popular M*A*S*H Bash "bivouacs" aboard the restored 63-year-old merchant cargo vessel return for the third year.

The event, from 6 to 9 p.m., features a silent auction with proceeds supporting the ship's youth maritime education programs and the vessel's continuing restoration.

Pumpkin Pandemonium Hyde Park Village, 742 S. Village Circle, Tampa, hosts its annual Pumpkin Patch from Saturday through Oct. 31.

There will be plump pumpkins, pets in costume and photo opportunities. The event benefits the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

In addition, the annual Fall Festival will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with trick-or-treating starting at 12:30 p.m. There will be a moon bounce, balloon sculptors and more.

The Strawberry Classic Car Show brings downtown Plant City to life from 4 to 9 p.m. in and around McCall Park at Collins and Drane streets.

158 Years Of Serving The Lord

Alafia Baptist Church, 222 Alafia Church Road, Lithia, will celebrate 158 years with homecoming services Saturday and Sunday. The festivities start with a barbecue at 5:30 p.m. Saturday; the church will furnish the dinner but attendees should bring dessert and tea. The Lumber River Quartet will perform in concert at 6:45 p.m. and an offering will be received.

Sunday's services include Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Terry Holland as guest speaker, followed by a covered dish lunch.

Glen E. Owens, assistant executive director of the Florida Baptist Convention and member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, will preach a mini-revival starting Sunday at Sydney Baptist Church, 1510 Cre Road, Dover.

Services will be at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Oct. 22. . A covered-dish luncheon will follow the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Huge Home Show At Fairgrounds

Thinking about building, remodeling, decorating, landscaping or planning your next home makeover? Florida's Largest Fall Home Show will have more than 950 exhibits with local, national and international companies showcasing futuristic technology and new products and services Friday through Sunday at the Florida State Fairgrounds' Expo Hall.

Show hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Ticket prices are $8 for adults; $7 for age 55 and older; free for children younger than 12 who attend with an adult. Parking is $5 for cars and $10 for RVs and buses. Visitors are asked to enter the fairgrounds at the U.S. 301 entrance.
