The city's newest hotel will open in time for the big game.

Shaner Hotels recently announced that its 87-room Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites will open Jan. 12 at 4307 Sterling Commerce Drive, near the Interstate 4 and County Line Road interchange. Super Bowl XLIII is Feb. 1 at Tampa's Raymond James Stadium.

The 44,000-square-foot, $5.3 million hotel will include a spa and outdoor pool and other amenities, including "a light and airy décor and crisp linens featuring a green tea design," the company said in a statement.

"We are excited about the opening of our new state-of-the-art Fairfield Inn & Suites," said Plato Ghinos, senior vice president of development for Shaner. "This will be a premiere property."
Shaner, based in State College, Pa., is a privately-held company that owns and manages a diverse portfolio of lodging, investment and professional services businesses.

Marriott International, based in Bethesda, Md., has about 3,000 lodging properties in the United States and 65 other countries and territories.
