PLANT CITY Hugh Gramling of Plant City has been elected president of the Southern Region, International Plant Propagators Society.
His election at the annual meeting means he will head the 300-member organization for a one-year term. He is the society's 34th president, succeeding Patricia Knight of Mississippi State University.
For 11 years, Gramling has been executive director of the Tampa Bay Wholesale Growers, an association of Hillsborough County production nurserymen.
The propagators society is a professional society of plant producers and academic professionals interested in plant propagation.
Gramling also serves on the governing board of the Brooksville-based Southwest Florida Water Management District and is chair of the following: Hillsborough County Agricultural Economic Development Council; the Hillsborough County Agricultural Economic Development Council; Hillsborough Soil and Water Conservation District; and the Florida Nursery Growers & Landscape Association Research Committee.
