PLANT CITY Local angler Robert Beck landed a 73.3-pound wahoo to win top honors in the Fun Fish Division of a recent Key West tournament.
Beck's catch in the Drambuie Key West Marlin Tournament held in the Southernmost City in July earned him a trophy and mention in the news story on the ESPNOutdoors.com Web site.
Beck's fishing partner for the tournament, longtime friend Bobby Smith of Myakka City, is a former Plant City resident.
The pair fished aboard the Outer Limits captained by Bennett Taylor.
Beck also caught a sailfish during the tournament.
Wahoo is a prize game fish found in tropical and subtropical waters worldwide, reaching 6 feet in length and weighing up to 180 pounds.
