Horse Whisperer Demonstration

Paul Daily, a nationally known "horse whisperer" trainer, will be in the area today for a demonstration.

Daily will work his soft-spoken magic, riding an unbroken horse within one hour of coming eye to eye with the animal.

The demonstration will take place between 5:30 p.m. and nightfall in the south side corral at Lebanon Baptist Church, 110 N. Forbes Road, just south of Interstate 4. The public is invited.

St. Clement Church Marks 10th Anniversary

Parishioners and friends of St. Clement Catholic Church will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the dedication of the church and sanctuary at 1104 N. Alexander St. from Nov. 21 to 23.

The celebration begins with a 7 p.m. commemorative Mass on Nov. 21, followed by a reception in Cronin Hall. Many former pastors will help celebrate the occasion.

The celebration continues with a 5:30 p.m. gala dinner and live and silent auctions Nov. 22 at the Red Rose Inn & Suites, 2011 N. Wheeler St. Drawings for cash prizes of $500, $1,000 and $5,000 will add to the fanfare. The cost is $100 per person.

The celebration will culminate Nov. 23 with the Feast of Christ the King, followed by family celebrations, in Cronin Hall. Masses will be at 7, 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Sponsorships, auction items, contributions and donations will be accepted. Reservations for the gala, auctions and entertainment should be made by Monday.

Volunteers Needed To Help With Homework
Bread of Life Ministries is in need of caring people to give students in kindergarten through fifth grade one-on-one help with their homework after school from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Twenty students study those afternoons at the facility, 908 E. Reynolds St. Tutors can work one or both days, and ministry workers will be available for guidance.

Community Outreach On Government Issues

A member of the staff of U.S. Rep Gus Bilirakis, R-Palm Harbor, will be at Bruton Memorial Library, 302 McLendon St., from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Nov. 12.

Constituents are encouraged to raise issues and concerns or request assistance with anything related to Congress and the federal government.

The visit is intended to complement the availability of assistance at Bilirakis' District 9 offices in Palm Harbor and Temple Terrace. No appointments are necessary.

Florida Opry's New Season Continues

After a yearlong hiatus, The Florida Opry resumes Saturday with the second performance of the eight-show season that runs through April.

The 7 p.m. performance at the 1914 Plant City High School Community Center, 605 N. Collins St., will feature Carolyn Cline, cousin of Patsy Cline; Tina Dallman; The Southern Exposure Band; and The Master's Four Gospel Quartet.

The ticket booth, doors and concession room open at 6 p.m.

Admission is $12 at the door. A portion of proceeds will benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Reserved seats cost $15.

The local tradition was skipped last year after nearly a decade of drawing busloads of music lovers from miles around. Myrle Henry, who founded the country music series, sold the production to the Dallmans, a local family whose background includes entertainment.

Henry, a 70-year-old retired pharmacist, will continue as master of ceremonies and consultant.

Mistletoe Mixer Jump-Starts Holidays

Remedi Spa and Chiropractic Center will hold its fourth annual Mistletoe Mixer from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13.

Chiropractor Jeffrey Dunn and his staff will host the event, which will feature appetizers, holiday beverages and other goodies, along with beauty tips from skin care experts.

Each visitor will receive a gift. Door prizes and discounts also will be offered during the mixer.

Dover Churches Hold Fall Events

Two Dover churches are marking the arrival of fall with special events on Saturday.

Dover United Methodist Church will hold its fall bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church at 3310 Moores Lake Road, a quarter mile north of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Items for sale will include homemade jellies and jams, relish, baked goods and crafts. Refreshments available for purchase will include hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages.

New Beginnings Church of God will hold its fall festival from 3 to 6 p.m. at the church, 14426 Downing St. The Goldizen Family Gospel Concert will be at 7 p.m.
