PLANT CITY - Legend has it that every 100 years the Scottish village of Brigadoon comes to life.
Its next reincarnation will be on the stage as Plant City Entertainment presents the musical "Brigadoon" on July 18-20 and 25-26 in the Cornerstone Center, 315 N. Collins St.
A cast of 58 and an ensemble orchestra, pipe organ and bagpipes will make the production full of music, excitement and drama.
The play deals with two travelers who lose their way while hiking in Scotland and stumble upon the village of Brigadoon just as it comes to life for the first time in 100 years. Their experiences and the clash of cultures provide the main story line.
The play is directed by Jennifer Jackson, who has won acclaim for her direction of plays such as "The Secret Garden," "Into the Woods" and "The King and I." Shirley Outen is serving as assistant director.
The large cast is headed by Justin Batten as Tommy Albright; Van Frost as Jeff Douglas; April Smith as Fiona MacLaren; Clint Shepherd as Charlie Dalrymple; Jennifer Morgan as Jean MacLaren; Lesley Ives-Payne as Meg Brockie; Hal Brewer as Mr. Lundie; and Taylor Frost as Harry Beaton.
Also, Ed Mason as Andrew MacLaren; John Harrer as Archie Beaton; Audrey Dedon as Jane Ashton; Adam Deagan as MacGregor; Sean Hawthorne as Sandy Dean; Joshua Mange as Frank the bartender; Christopher Tougisnant as Stuart Dalrymple; Mary Striby as Maggie Anderson; Sarah Pease as Kat McLeod; TyLynn Eben as solo dancer; and Greg Nicholosi as the bagpiper.
A men's ensemble will be composed of: Patrick Justin, Jeremiah Kerr, Richard Sebastian, Romel Baiser, Dennis Wood, Adam Gordon, Kevin Favis, Derek Abbott, Morgan Snipe, Stephen Osborne and Reggie Kirkland.
A women's ensemble includes: Sandra Collins, Lindsey Mutert, Tiffany Meadows, Frances Hardee, Jennifer Harnage, Shivani Dasai, Jordyn Jones, Carol Mutert, J.J. Cothron, Heather Barlow, Heather Gentry, Mackenzie Winters, Betty Roney, Mikayla Duncan, Allyson Vaughan, Na'Iyma Thompson, Jennifer Royce, Brittany Sebastian, Shelby Schmoll, Barbara Marking and Elaina DiMonaco.
Making up the children's ensemble are Melissa Harnage, Olivia Mitchell, Ashton Ives-Payne, Amelia MacGirvin, Aidan MacGirvin and Eli Martin.
The cast includes 29 people who are making their debut on the Plant City Entertainment stage.
Student Tapped For Honor Society
PLANT CITY - Jessica A. Aloyo, a 2005 Plant City High School graduate, was inducted in April into the Oscar Arias Sanchez Hispanic Honor Society through the Florida State University Division of Undergraduate Studies for her academic excellence among students of Hispanic heritage.
She is entering her senior year at the university in Tallahassee.
She is the daughter of Ruben and Maria Aloyo and sister of Marissa, all of Plant City.
Youth Soccer Camp Offered Next Month
PLANT CITY - The Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp will be held at the soccer fields at the Otis M Andrews Sports Complex off Park Road.
The camp is June 16 through 20.
For mini-soccer, ages 4 and 5, the cost is $72 for the 90-minute morning sessions. The recreation level camp for ages 6 to 16 is $92 with half-day sessions either morning or afternoon.
Higher level camp for ages 13 to 18 is $142 for all-day sessions.
Registration for the camps is under way. Forms are available at the Plant City Recreation and Parks Department administrative office, 1904 S. Park Road.

Book Discussion Planned At Bruton Library
PLANT CITY - Readers might want to check out "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See in preparation for a June 3 discussion of the book.
The discussion, which is free, will be held at 11 a.m. at Bruton Memorial Library, 302 McLendon St.
Copies of the book are available at the library.
Christian Women's Club Plans Luncheon
PLANT CITY - The Plant City Christian Women's Connection will have a luncheon and program, "The Princess and the Baker," from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 3 at Walden Lake Golf and Country Club, 2001 Clubhouse Drive.
The guest speaker will be Jill Jackson, the special feature will be Carmie Rupert with Pampered Chef, and the vocalist will be Diane Kennedy. Cost is $13.

College Graduations Tap Some With Local Roots
PLANT CITY - Many young people with Plant City roots are graduating from college this spring.
Among them is Charles Lusk, son of Rob and Jo-Ann Lusk of Plant City. He received a bachelor's degree in sports administration in recent ceremonies at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville. While at the college, he was a four-year member of the Division 1-AA football team, playing tight end.
A number of local people received degrees from the Lakeland campus of the University of South Florida at commencement May 5.
The grads are:
