6 Crossings To Close

PLANT CITY - A half-dozen railroad crossings will be closed to vehicular traffic starting next week while workers make improvements and repairs, according to the city's public works department.

The improvements will require detours at the following times at six crossings:

•Wheeler Street near Renfro Street, Tuesday through May 31

•Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard between Michigan Avenue and Palmer Street, June 9-14

•Collins Street (State Road 39) near Renfro Street, June 9-14

•Evers Street near Renfro Street, June 9-14

•Waller Street near Renfro Street and Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard, June 9-14

•Airport Road, between Alexander and Woodrow Wilson streets, June 9-14.

Detours around the crossings will be marked, except at the Airport Road location, which will be closed to all but local traffic, a city spokeswoman said.
