PLANT CITY - Parents hunting something for their children to do this summer might want to take a look at sports camps offered by the Plant City Recreation and Parks Department.
Basketball camp with Dale Chambers, Plant City High School head basketball coach, will be June 9 through 12, July 7 through 10 and July 21 through 24 at Plant City High, One Raider Place.
The camp is for children 7 to 15.
Softball camp with Heidi Kouveras, Plant City High's head softball coach, is for children 9 to 14. Sessions will be divided according to position skills. Defensive camp will be June 13 and 14; offensive camp, July 11 and 12; and pitching/catching camp, Aug. 1 and 2. The sessions also will be at Plant City High.
Baseball camp with University of South Florida baseball staff members for children 6 to 15 will be at the Mike Sansone Complex off Park Road on July 12 and at Plant City Stadium, 1810 E. Park Road, July 26.

Children's Theater Will Stage 'Annie'
PLANT CITY - The Plant City Children's Theatre will stage the musical "Annie" at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. May 17.
The production will be at the 1914 Plant City High School Community Center, 605 N. Collins St.
Most of the roles have been double cast for the two performances.
The role of Annie will be played by Destiny Cox and Amelia MacGirvin. Erick Corryn will be Daddy Warbucks for both performances, and Heather Gentry will do both appearances as Miss Hannagin. Annie's dog, Sandy, will be played by Aiden MacGirvin and Erin Buzza.
Others in the cast include Kendra Ramirez Molina, Harley Quigley, Ally Burt, Tatyana Patterson, Mary Kate Doyen, Ariel Navarrete, Chantel Quirona, Amber Phillips and Melanie Flott.
Also, Kirsten Wainoris, Emily Buzza, Cassie McFaul, Haylee Cooper, Alyssa Cooper, Adrienne Flott, Devinne Szostkiewcz, Claire Salo, Rexi Lott, Lisa Steinbrenner, Angel Sparkman, Kelsey Myers, Savannah Mew, Chris Romano, Kayla Madill, Cierra Craft, Kristen Hansen, Vlad Yakubov, Aiden MacGirvin and David Cox.
"Annie" dancers are Katie Barr, Taylor Mew, Amber Wilson, Marissa Aloyo, Kristin Hansen and Kisha Huntsinger.

'The Beverly Hillbillies' Has 3 More Shows
PLANT CITY - "The Beverly Hillbillies," a play based on the long-running television show, is continuing its run.
The latest production of Plant City Entertainment opened Friday, with performances today, Friday and May 10; curtain time is 8 p.m. The play is being staged at the Cornerstone Center, 315 N. Collins St.
Director Shannon Mack has cast Reggie Kirkland as Jed Clampett, the patriarch of the family, with Nash Breuggerman as daughter Elly May and Micah Keck as Jethro. The role of Granny is double cast, with Betty Roney and the Rev. Tom Thoeni playing the irascible old lady.
Tom Guerre is banker Mr. Drysdale, and Kay Secord plays his wife. Miss Hathaway is portrayed by Terrie Cameron, and Judy Barta is Cousin Pearl.
Others in the cast are Clark Brooks, Lesli Platt, Richard Sebastian, Cassie Miles, Jennifer Morgan, Heather Gentry, James Buzbee, Gaye Guerre, Greg Horwedel, Kim Horwedel, Kerri Gafford and Joe Osborn.
Kim Mitchell is assistant director, and Wendy Hetrick, stage manager. Tyler Hollis and Tom Mitchell are in charge of lighting and sound, and Paul Hetrick did the set design.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for patrons 55 and older and students through 12th grade. Tickets may be available at the door or may be purchased in advance at Hardee's Fashions, 1501 N. Wheeler St., Plant City.
Art Show May 10 Sponsored By Guild
PLANT CITY - The annual Cornerstone art show is from noon to 5 p.m. May 10 at the Cornerstone Center, 315 N. Collins St.
The show is sponsored by the East Hillsborough Art Guild. Refreshments will be sold during the show, which is a fundraiser for Cornerstone's foundation.

Church To Hold Confirmation
PLANT CITY - Hope Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Park Road, invites the community to join the congregation at 9:15 a.m. Sunday for the Rite of Confirmation.
Following two years of instruction in the Christian faith in general and Lutheran teachings, the Rite of Confirmation will be performed for Sjana Benton. She is the daughter of James Benton and stepdaughter of Clarene Benton.

Theater Group To Hold Auditions For 'Brigadoon'
PLANT CITY - Auditions for "Brigadoon," the summer musical production of Plant City Entertainment, will be held at 7 p.m. May 12, 13 and 15 at Cornerstone Center, 315 N. Collins St. The play will be staged July 18 through 20, and July 25 and 26.
Auditions are open to all; membership in the theater organization is not required. However, those cast in the play will be expected to become members.
