PLANT CITY - Plant City High School graduates Lauren Bradshaw, Morgan Feaster and Kirsten Ritenbaugh celebrated graduation May 10 with a country-style party.
Friends since grade school, the young women decided to hold their party together at a barn at the home of Charlie and Becky Williams, north of Plant City.
More than 200 friends and family turned out, complete with barbecue, music, dancing and bonfire. Hosts were their parents, Larry and Debbie Bradshaw, Mark and Mendi Feaster and Jay and Laurel Ritenbaugh.
Happy 90th Birthday
PLANT CITY - A Springhead resident, Merle Surrency, was honored by 85 family and friends at her 90th birthday May 10. The group celebrated at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Linda Turner. Her other children were also in attendance, including Bryan Turner and his wife, Uldine, Gary Turner and his wife, Ginny, and daughter Janice Kinzler and her husband, Hubert.
Business Helps Girl Scouts And Veterans
PLANT CITY - Debbie Siebenthal, owner of The UPS Store at 117 S. Alexander St., recently helped three Girl Scouts from Troop 293 earn their Bronze Awards. The youngsters decorated boxes full of Girl Scout cookies to send to the troops overseas.
Siebenthal donated the boxes and shipping. The girls, Madison Manley, Chelsea Kiely, and Samantha Sun, also volunteered at a food bank.
Fundraiser Brings In Nearly $100,000
PLANT CITY - The 21st annual Rainbow Ball raised nearly $100,000 to benefit the Child Abuse Council. The money will help support the Plant City Rainbow Center. Yvonne Fry and Jodi Smith headed the annual event at the Red Rose Inn and Suites in Plant City.
The Rainbow Center is a therapeutic center for at-risk and abused children and their families in Plant City.
"The community of Plant City has been so generous to the Child Abuse Council throughout the years. The Rainbow Ball's longtime support has enabled us to help and strengthen families in Hillsborough County," Paul D'Agostino, executive director of the Child Abuse Council, said in a statement.
New Guild Member Plans Craft And Art Show
PLANT CITY - The East Hillsborough Art Guild has welcomed a new member, Dale Bliss.
Bliss, owner of the Strawberry Basket Craft Store, 1301 N. Wheeler St., is planning a craft and art show in July. For information on vendor space or other information, call (813) 752-8999.
'Brigadoon' Draws A Lot Of Interest
PLANT CITY - A record 66 people auditioned for parts in "Brigadoon," the latest Plant City Entertainment production, which begins July 18 at Cornerstone Center, 315 N. Collins St. The cast will include a record 58 members.
Jennifer Jackson is directing the play, with Shirley Outen as assistant director
The group is also holding a spaghetti supper from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 21 at the Wesley Centre at the First United Methodist Church of Plant City campus, 303 N. Evers St.
The supper will include spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children.
Singers, dancers and musicians from "Brigadoon," along with Greg Nicolosi, bagpiper, will provide entertainment during the meal.

Baby Settling In
PLANT CITY - Little Aubrey Elizabeth Johnson is getting to know her family, including her great-grandparents Velma and Manuel Glaros. The couple's daughter Tammy is married to Fred Johnson, owner of three Fred's Market Restaurants. The baby was born to the Johnsons' son and daughter-in-law Owen and Heidi Johnson.
Aubrey was born April 27 at a birth center in Lakeland.
