PLANT CITY - After years of learning to recognize that the Raiders are the enemy, Taed Moses has some adjusting to do.

The Durant High baseball standout recently signed a scholarship to Seminole Community College, whose athletic teams are called the Raiders - the same nickname as Durant's big rival, Plant City High.

Moses was the steadying force in the Cougars' infield the past two seasons, and more than did his part for the offense. In his just-completed senior season, Moses hit .342 and was tied for the team high in runs, with 13, and runs batted in, with 12.

Seminole Community College, north of Orlando, finished 34-17 this season and won the Mid-Florida Conference with a 16-8 mark. The Raiders lost their final two games at the Florida Community College Activities Association state tournament.

In 2003, Seminole made its first trip to the national junior college tournament.

Last week, Moses earned honorable mention for the Wade Boggs Athletic Achievement Award, which goes to the top county baseball player with both on-field and classroom accomplishments considered. Alonso pitcher Alex Panteliodis won the award. Preston Tucker of Plant also received honorable mention.

Moses' scholarship brought the total signees from Durant's graduationg class to 10.

Baseball teammate Jeremy Fussell previously inked with Ranger College in Texas.

Two college teams will have a pair of Cougars entering their fold. Softball leaders Sara DeMuth and Kristen Jones are headed to Augusta State in Georgia, and football players Josh Piascik and Kevin Szczypinski will play for West Virginia Wesleyan.

Brooke Van Aman, who finished in the top five of her graduating class, will play soccer at the University of Miami.

Divers Chris Plante, at Dartmouth College, and Kaylee Doback, at the University of Florida, also will further their careers, and football player David Zanato signed with University of Saint Francis in Joliet, Ill.
