PLANT CITY - Betty Jones exhibited her artistic talent at the recent Plant City Photo Archives' Progressive Tea and Tour of Historic Homes. For the second year in a row, she won most outlandish in the tea's hat contest.
The hat is part of a large collection of what she calls her "hideous hats," and she wears them all to church, parties and even the grocery store. Originally from Boston, she moved to Plant City in 1977 and bought a house in a historical district.
Jones is a member of the East Hillsborough Art Guild and an officer in the Order of the Eastern Star.
"When I bought this outlandish hat, the saleslady looked at me and asked why."
Now she knows - it's a winner.

"Stephen Ministry gives Hope an effective way to train and organize members to provide one-on-one Christian care to individuals struggling with a crisis like grief, divorce, loneliness, hospitalization or a terminal illness," said Hope's pastor, the Rev. Dean Pfeffer.
Pfeffer, Lyn Senkarik and Libby Voigtmann were trained as Stephen leaders. Next, they will recruit and train their first class at Hope Lutheran.
