PLANT CITY - Their games at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex won't count against the official record of the Plant City Raiders. Given that, it was a pretty good trip.
The Raiders lost twice at the KSA Events Holiday Basketball Tournament, falling 69-51 to El Toro of California and 57-49 to Shawnee of New Jersey.
"I was pleased. It was the kind of thing I want our guys to experience," said Raiders head coach Dale Chambers, who had never been to Disney.
Chambers said the team got to play against two types of opponents, with the California team being very physical.
"They pushed around a little bit, but we handled ourselves well," Chambers said.
Plant City (6-4) returns to the court Wednesday, hosting Sarasota for the first time since the Sailors ended the Raiders' season in the district tournament.
After that, it's another big one when Durant visits Friday.
The Raiders girls' team, off to a strong start, gets back into district play Thursday at Lakeland.
