PLANT CITY - Today, the Strawberry Classic Car Show will celebrate 11 years of showing vehicles in downtown Plant City.
From 4 to 9 p.m., the show will have cars and trucks from 1983 and earlier on display in the historical downtown district. The activities are based in and around McCall Park at Collins and Drane streets.
The show, which is free for car owners and spectators, is expected to have 400 to 600 vehicles on display and thousands of spectators. Registration begins at 3 p.m., with free dash plaques for the first 200 who register. One entry will win a framed magazine cover photo of the vehicle. Six award plaques also will be presented.
Antique, classic, hot rod and custom cars aren't all spectators will find at the show. There will be music, food and displays from local businesses and sponsors. Southern Star Bluegrass Band will perform at 4, 5:30 and 7 p.m. There will be a drawing and door prizes.
The car shows, held the third Saturday monthly, are a project of the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce.
Job Preparation Subject Of Two Workshops
PLANT CITY - The Centre for Women will present two workshops this month dealing with resumes and job interviews at Bruton Memorial Library, 302 McLendon St.
The first session, My Resume: What Do I Really Need to Include?, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday. Participants should bring a list of their previous and current jobs plus a disc so they can begin preparing a resume.
The second workshop, Who Me? Selling Myself on a Job Interview, will be from 2 to 4 pm. April 28. Participants will take part in mock interviews. There will be time for brief questions, discussions and ideas to prepare for the interview process.

Former Resident Retiring From Marines
PLANT CITY - Master Gunnery Sgt. Charles G. Harwell was scheduled to retire Friday from the Marine Corps after more than 20 years of service. He was a 1983 graduate of Plant City High School.
Harwell makes his home in Kenosha, Wis., with his wife, Karen, daughter of Professor Robert W. Hart and Joan Hart of Brandon. The couple have two sons, Robert and Alexander.
Harwell has been accepted to the Wisconsin police academy.
Farm Credit Names Holt Its New CEO
PLANT CITY - Reginald T. Holt has taken the reins at Farm Credit of Central Florida as president and CEO of the member-owned agricultural lender.
Holt takes over for Richard W. Joyner, a Plant City resident who retired after 11 years at the helm.
Holt joined Farm Credit in 1982, serving as a branch manager at East Carolina Farm Credit in Swan Quarter, N.C. In 1985, he transferred to the Farm Credit Bank of Columbia, serving in credit administration and audit positions until 1992. Since then he served as the association's director of agribusiness lending.
Holt is a member and past president of the Plant City Rotary Club. He has served as treasurer and a board member of the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce and the Plant City Economic Development Council. He was a charter member of the Hillsborough County Agricultural Economic Development Council and has served as chairman of the Hillsborough County Cooperative Extension Advisory Committee.
Holt and his wife, Gaye, have four adult children, Kyle, Nichole, Weston and Ryan.
Farm Credit of Central Florida is a cooperative lender to about 2,300 Florida ranchers, farmers, growers and homeowners, with loan volume exceeding $847 million. It also provides crop insurance to its members and serves 13 counties - Brevard, Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties.
Women's Ministry Revival Planned
PLANT CITY - Evangelist Sharon Reaves Belcher will present a revival, The Year of Release, from April 30 to May 2 at St. Mary Community Church, 907 E. Laura St.
The evangelist will deliver three messages: Trapped in Time, Destiny Decisions and The Year of Release. Services will be at 7 p.m. daily.
Belcher can be heard from 7:45 to 8 a.m. Saturdays on radio station WWAB, 1330 AM.

Unity Golf Tournament Coming Up On May 2
PLANT CITY - Golfers need to mark their calendars for the annual Unity in the Community Golf Tournament set for May 2 at the Walden Lake Golf and Country Club, 2001 Clubhouse Drive.
Registration will be at 7 a.m., and tee time at 8:30 a.m. A dinner will follow the tournament. There will be a drawing, door prizes and prizes for the first, second and third place teams. A hole-in-one can win a car.
Unity in the Community provides year-round assistance to the needy in the Plant City area.

City Offices To Have New Way To Be Reached
PLANT CITY - The offices and departments of Plant City government will soon have a new way to be reached.
When the new system is in place, Web users will be able to go to www.plantcitygov .com and from there, find the department they need on a drop-down menu.
Women's Connection Plans Luncheon
PLANT CITY - The Plant City Christian Connection invites women to attend a luncheon and program, Where Are You Going? The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 6 at Walden Lake Golf and Country Club, 2001 Clubhouse Drive. Cost is $13.
The speaker will be Sophia Dare Dentiste, an artist, speaker and writer. A special feature will be by Debbie Gellispie of Premier Travel Agency. Amber Davis will present vocal selections.

Garage Sale Will Aid Cancer Patient
BRANDON - The Brandon Eye Clinic will hold a garage-bake sale from 8 a.m. to noon today to aid a co-worker recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The sale will be at the clinic at 403 Vonderburg Drive, Suite 101.
Proceeds will go toward the worker's medical and financial needs.
