PLANT CITY - If you are looking for an hour and a half of live musical entertainment in a comfortable yet intimate surrounding, you might try the Vaudeville Follies coming Friday and Saturday.

Plant City's Al Cohen and his Star Production group have put together a show featuring vintage songs, some from the World War II era, in two acts that will entertain all ages and jar the memories of patrons old enough to remember many of these show tunes.

'We have a wonderful cast of singers who bring talent and energy to a show that will please any audience,' Cohen said.

Songs on the program include 'Que Sera Sera,' 'Second Hand Rose,' 'Yankee Doodle Dandy,' 'It's A Grand Ole Flag,' 'Hey Big Spender' and 'God Bless America.'

The cast of singers includes Cassidy Butler, Samantha Hall, Paula Spangler Klein, Heather Gentry and Jonathan Douglas.

'Our sole purpose is to provide our audience with upbeat and familiar tunes that will ring in their hearts,' Cohen said. 'We have provided musical revues and dinner theaters many times in the Plant City area. We enjoy the effort to produce each show as much as the audience enjoys viewing and listening to them.'

On Friday, there will be one show, at 8 p.m. On Saturday, there will be a matinee at 4 p.m. and an evening show at 8 p.m.

The venue for the shows will be the main auditorium of the Scientology Life Improvement Center, 102 N. Collins St.

'We are very pleased to accommodate the Vaudeville Follies show at our location,' said Peggy Guignon, director of the center. 'Mr. Cohen came to us and explained what his musical production involved and we were glad to allow the use of our facility free of charge.'

The Vaudeville Follies also will be presented Oct. 11 at John Knox Village, 4100 E. Fletcher Ave., Tampa, with a 7:30 p.m. curtain.

Ticket prices for the Plant City show are $15 and can be purchased at Hardee's Fashion Center, 1501 N. Wheeler St., (813) 754-4929, or at the Scientology center, (813) 752-0148.
