PLANT CITY - Most dual swim meets have very little drama when it comes to who is going to be the team winner. Individual races may have tight finishes but in most cases, it is clear when one school has an overall strength advantage.
But Monday at the Walden Lake Country Club pool when the Plant City High Raiders host Durant, it might provide one of the closer and more hotly contested meets in the area this season.
The match-up will conclude the regular season for both squads. It begins at 7 p.m.
Both of the Raider squads are having winning seasons. Durant was expected to be strong with divers Chris Plante and Kaylee Doback, but the team is also having success in the swimming lanes.
Rachel Boston and Erin Hofrichter have led the way for the girls. Logan Butler has been very strong on the boys team.
'We've got some really athletic boys who have just learned to swim competitively this year,' Durant coach Carlie Sullivan said. 'But they've made significant impacts on the team.'
Two such examples, Sullivan said, are Dustin Kasuba and Ray Santiesteban.
The District 3A-4 meet takes place at the Bobby Hicks Pool at Robinson High School. Diving competition is set for Oct. 16 with the swimming portion to get under way Oct. 18.
