Plant City Woman Celebrates 100th Birthday

PLANT CITY - Lucille Crum celebrated her 100th birthday Oct. 31.

Friends and relatives joined her Saturday for an open house cocktail party at the Country Meadows clubhouse.

She was featured in the senior community's November in-house newspaper, the Leisure Times.

Chamber Event Draws Big Crowd

PLANT CITY - More than 250 attended the Business After Hours networking event held Oct. 25. It was the second time Image Depot hosted the monthly event.

Sponsored by the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, the evening highlighted Image Depot, a banner, sign, vehicle wrap and apparel shop, and Mango Cleaners.

Food and drinks were provided by O'Brien's Irish Pub & Grill, Sweetbay Supermarket and The Taste of Philly Westshore Pizza & Cheesesteaks.

Old Friends Relive Memories Of McCrory's

PLANT CITY - There's never a bad time to remember the good times.

Two women recently reminisced at Plant City Photo Archives on their years as employees at McCrory's in Plant City. Mildred Griffin and Evelyn Lampkin, who have remained good friends, were there until the doors closed.

In other archives news, the nonprofit's Bailey-Eastman Group for young professionals will hold its monthly meeting at 5:15 p.m. Nov. 15 at the archives, 119 N. Collins St. The group encourages young professionals to attend and participate by submitting photos that depict businesses, schools, clubs, churches, people, teachers, students and events from the 1970s and '80s.

Businesses Help Shiloh Elementary

PLANT CITY - Kazbor's Sports Grille will help in Shiloh Elementary Charter School's fundraising effort by donating the food for a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday.

Teachers at the school will volunteer as servers for the breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage, and beverage. The meal will cost $6.

Although the school is held to the same standards as the public schools, it does not receive the same funding. The school needs computers, a die-cut machine, laminator and photocopiers.

Another business, Papa John's Pizza, 1820 James L. Redman Parkway, donates 20 percent of its orders on a given night to schools that sign up. Weitz said Thursday nights are Shiloh Night at Papa John's, and the school made several hundred dollars in October.

Three Get Degrees At Massachusetts College

PLANT CITY - Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., has awarded degrees to three Plant City residents.

Linda Dash and Michelle Range received bachelor's degrees in human services, and Betty Stoner-Sampson received her master of science in human services.

The college was established in 1885 and is renowned as the birthplace of basketball.

One-Man Show On Display This Month

PLANT CITY - Plant City artist-photographer R. Hilry Adams is having a one-man show, "China Ink, Printmaking & Photos," through November at Arts on the Park, 115 N. Kentucky Ave., Lakeland. For information and times, call (863) 680-2787.
