'The Mouse' Set For Renovated Cornerstone

PLANT CITY - The venue for the upcoming Plant City Entertainment production of "The Mouse That Roared" has been changed to the recently renovated Plant City Cornerstone Center, 315 N. Collins St.

The play was originally scheduled for the voluminous Trinkle center at Hillsborough Community College's Plant City campus. But with the renovation of the sanctuary at the Cornerstone Center almost complete, the organizers at Plant City Entertainment opted for the smaller venue.

The play is directed by Tyler Hollis.

"The production company has performed at the HCC school auditorium for years," Hollis said. "Our last three performances have been in the Trinkle center. We have had the best relationship with the college, but the Cornerstone facility is going to be a more intimate fit for the players and the audience."

"The Mouse That Roared," described by one critic for Dramatic Publishing Co. as a "hilarious, rib-tickling comedy," is the first play of the community theater's 2007-08 season.

The cast includes nearly 23 performers, many performing dual roles. The play is also providing a launching pad for the community theater group's new state-of-the-art sound system.

"The system consists of four wireless microphones, two high-quality floor mics, a set of new speakers and sound board equipment that brings it all to life," Hollis said.

The productions are at 8 p.m. Friday and Nov. 10, 16, and 17.

Ticket prices are $10 general admission and $8 for ages 55 and older and students through 12th grade. Tickets are available at the door. Group rates and individual advance tickets are available at Hardee's Fashions, 1501 N. Wheeler St.
Cornerstone Center was home to First Baptist Church of Plant City from the early 1920s until 1994.
