PLANT CITY - Busy times lie ahead for Bruton Memorial Library and its patrons. The library at 302 McLendon St. has a full slate of events lined up for the new year.
First up on Jan. 15 is Games Zone for ages 13 to 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Teen Library Club, the evening will feature games such as Dance, Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero 2 and more.
At 5 p.m. Jan. 31, the Teen Library Club is sponsoring College Prep Zone for high school students and adults. This session will provide information about choosing a university or community college, picking a college major, fulfilling testing requirements, applying for admission and applying for financial aid and scholarships.
A series of computer classes will be held, one with daytime hours and the other in the evenings. Both sets will be hands-on, and registration must be made one hour before the class starts.
The day series will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesdays. Subjects will be: Jan. 16, Word 1, Introduction; Jan. 23, Word 2, Font and Page Formatting; Jan. 30, Internet Introduction; Feb. 6, Internet Searching Techniques; Feb. 13, E-mail Messages; Feb. 20, Email Attachments and Address Book; and Feb. 27, Mouse Skills.
The evening classes will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays. These will be: Jan. 29, E-mail Messages; Feb. 4, E-mail Attachments and Address Book; Feb. 18, Mouse Skills; and Feb. 25, Keyboard Basics.

Site To Register For Baby Parade Changed
PLANT CITY - Here is a reminder that the registration for the baby parade that will be part of the 2008 Florida Strawberry Festival has a new site.
The new place for parents to register their children will be the Planteen Recreation Center, 301 Dort St.
Registration will be Jan. 26. Doors will open at 8 a.m. and close at 10 a.m.
Each entry must be made in person and accompanied by a nonrefundable $25 entry fee. Checks should be made payable to the GFWC Plant City Junior Woman's Club.
Entrants must live in Hillsborough County east of U.S. 301. A driver's license with proof of residency is required.
Entries will be limited to the first 50 children in each of four age groups, 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds. The age of the child is as of Jan. 31.

City Department Hosts Watershed Program
PLANT CITY - The Water Resource Management Division of the city Public Works Department will host a program for ages 6 to 12 and their parents from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24. The event will be held at Bruton Memorial Library, 302 McLendon St.
The program, Wild About the Watershed, will give information about Florida's unique habitats and the creatures that inhabit them. Children will make plaster casts of an animal track, and pizza will be served. There also will be games.
Although the class is free, preregistration is required and may be made by calling Shawna Everidge, environmental education coordinator, at (813) 757-9289, Ext. 2249.
Book To Be Discussed At Library
PLANT CITY - Fast readers have time to get in on the upcoming book discussion at Bruton Memorial Library.
At 11 a.m. Jan. 8, the book "Alas, Babylon" by Pat Frank will be discussed.
Copies of the book are available at the library at 302 McLendon St.
