PLANT CITY - The Brandon High School choirs and the Plant City High School choir and orchestra will perform "La Messe de Minuit" (Midnight Mass) by Marc-Antoine Charpentier at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the Plant City High School auditorium, One Raider Place, off Alexander Street. The Tomlin Middle School chorus also will sing selections during the evening.
The two high schools will perform the Midnight Mass again at 7 p.m. Friday in the Brandon High School theater, 1101 Victoria St.
The Plant City concert will feature Raiders soloists; the Brandon concert will spotlight Eagles soloists.
Robert Nicholson directs the Plant City and Tomlin students; his wife, Marilyn, is the choral director at Brandon.
When asked how the Charpentier piece was selected, Marilyn Nicholson said, "Every year, I try to find a major work ... that is appropriate for my high school singers. The Midnight Mass by Charpentier is a well-known work that we have never sung before. ... By combining forces with Plant City High School, we can present a full experience for the singers at both schools, as well as the orchestral players from Plant City."
Tickets are $5 at the door.
