PLANT CITY - Hope Lutheran Church celebrated a milestone Nov. 25 when members gathered to honor the congregation's music director of 35 years, Christine Mansell.
Unknown to Mansell, surprise substitute organist and friend Gloria Klockzeim, minister of music at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lakeland, was sitting at Hope's organ to play for the morning service.
Members were encouraged to bring cards of thanks and a special "Christine Mansell Roast" was held that morning as well. Memories were shared by members and staff members past and present.
As a part of the celebration, Hope's choir sang a special anthem, written by choir director Ellen Whitehurst, in honor of Mansell.
Technologist Assistant Gets November Honors
PLANT CITY - Nate Santibanez was chosen the November team member of the month at South Florida Baptist Hospital.
He is a technologist assistant in Imaging Central Operations.
Parking Lot Sale Benefits Hospital
PLANT CITY - South Florida Baptist, which prides itself in helping the community in more ways than one, will hold its annual parking lot sale from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Century 21 parking lot, 1905 W. Baker St.
Quality, like-new items, arts and crafts, baked goods and plants will be sold.
Vendor fees will benefit the hospital's team member emergency assistance fund. Money taken in by the vendors will be theirs.

Store Offers Free Photos With Santa's Helpers
PLANT CITY - With Christmas just around the corner, Plant City merchants are finding creative ways to make the holidays special for youngsters.
On Mondays throughout December, children can get their pictures taken with Santa's helpers free at the UPS Store, 117 W. Alexander St.
There is also a mailbox for shipping letters to Santa.
Plant City Artist Appeared In Production
PLANT CITY - Charleene Closshey of Plant City performed in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, "NINE," from Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 at Theatre Zone in Naples.
She is the daughter of Charles and Jennifer Closshey and has performed as a concert violinist, vocalist, opera singer and commercial model.
She was selected as one of only two artists from Florida to attend the renowned Operafestival di Roma, in Rome, Italy.

The Big Ones Didn't Get Away For 2 Women
PLANT CITY - Gail McGrath and Vicki Hawthorne spent Veterans Day fishing off Longboat Key. They proudly report they out-fished the fellows, David Hawthorne and Lou McGrath.
Gail McGrath brought in a 45-inch, 25-pound kingfish and Vicki Hawthorne's kingfish catch was just under that at 42 inches and 20 pounds.
Audition Thursday For Upcoming Musical
PLANT CITY - Thursday is the final day to audition for Plant City Entertainment's next show, the musical: "Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten."
Auditions will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Plant City Cornerstone Center, 315 N. Collins St.
The cast will be composed of six people (three men and three women), all of whom will sing. The parts call for actors who range in age from the late teens to the 70s.
